San Antonio Water System

The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is pleased to inform you about the new way in which it proposes to obtain a majority of its design services in 2015. In order to reach as many design firms as possible, SAWS will be conducting an outreach meeting on October 23, 2014, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in room 145, Tower II at SAWS HQ, 2800 U.S. Hwy. 281 N. SAWS intends to issue a comprehensive 2015 Request for Qualifications for Engineering Services (RFQ), which will be a single RFQ listing multiple Work Order projects and several specific projects, in November 2014 with a due date for responses in December 2014. 

 The meeting will cover the proposed changes to the RFQ, which include: 

• Electronic submittals of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs)
• Page limitations on SOQs
• File size limitations
• How to indicate interest for the different areas of SAWS’ Engineering
• General description of the different contract values
• Evaluation processes for SOQs
• Notices to non-selected firms
• General timeline for contracts to be awarded

Another purpose of the meeting is to obtain additional feedback from the engineering community regarding the proposed change in obtaining design services.  SAWS is interested in learning about concerns your firm may have in participating in a consolidated RFQ and discussing the benefits to your firm.
