Notification of Public Hearings: SAWS Minority and Woman-owned Business Program Disparity Study

 SAWS is currently undergoing a Minority and Woman-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program Disparity Study to measure SAWS’ utilization of M/WBEs in its contract awards by examining 1) The procurement of utility/heavy civil construction, architecture and engineering, other professional services, and procurement (commodities and general services) 2) The subcontracting practices of prime contractors/professional consultants who do business with SAWS, and 3) The anecdotal evidence collected from a broad cross-section of M/WBE and non-M/WBE firms.  

An important component of the Disparity Study is providing an opportunity for the Community’s voice to be heard during Public Hearings.  SAWS has scheduled two public hearings: The first Public Hearing will occur on Friday, August 15, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mission Branch Library.  The second public hearing will occur on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at San Antonio Water System.

 

The Public Hearings will be facilitated by the consulting firm hired by SAWS to conduct the Disparity Study: MGT of America.  MGT of America will provide an opportunity for Public Hearing attendees to  learn more about the study and provide testimony of their experiences doing business or attempting to do business with SAWS.

San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is conducting a Disparity Study, and invites all interested parties to a public hearing to provide testimony of their experiences in doing business, or attempting to do business, with SAWS. The intent of the Disparity Study is to measure the utilization of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) in SAWS contracting practices.
