Groundwater Resource Protection
Protecting water quality in the San Antonio region.
SAWS' goal to provide quality water for our customers also drives the Groundwater Resource Protection Section. Utilizing a fast cycle time to respond to our customers' concerns is another important part of our objectives.
The Groundwater Resource Protection Section has been charged to protect water quality in the San Antonio region through the enforcement of San Antonio City Code, Chapter 34 (Sec 34-566-581) and continuing programs like our award-winning Source Water/Wellhead Protection Program and our aggressive Abandoned Well Program.
Public outreach and education efforts also help our customers become knowledgeable about our wellhead protection practices and the actions they can take to preserve our quality water.
