Innovative Recycled Water Program

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that goes for San Antonio's direct recycled water delivery system, too. More than 110 miles of pipeline delivers high-quality recycled water to local golf courses, parks, commercial and industrial customers, as well as to the city's iconic River Walk.

But that's not where the eco-friendly practices end. SAWS also uses: organic biosolids, a byproduct of treating wastewater in generating compost which is sold commercially through local retailers; and methane gas, which is generated during the treatment process and then compressed and sold on the open market.

This environmental trifecta makes San Antonio the only city in the U.S. to harness all three wastewater treatment byproducts.
