Since 1936, San Antonio has been rated as having a superior water system by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. We depend on clean and safe water for drinking, recreation and business use, therefore, water quality is a top priority.
So it's a no-brainer that SAWS recognizes the importance of watershed protection and management. Through the Resource Protection & Compliance section, SAWS water quality protection program is one of the most aggressive in the state.
SAWS is also committed to being an environmental steward. Our wastewater and environmental experts work closely with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, to ensure our wastewater and drinking water operations comply with all regulations. The result: SAWS' "A-rated" wastewater treatment operation has been recognized as one of the best environmental programs in the U.S.
