Keep calm and keep mowing

Don't waste water and time trying to rescue rescuegrass that's fading fast and not meant to last.

Don't be fooled by this imposter

Alternatives for summer color

Perennials are the way to go. They return on their own every summer — saving you water, time and money.

Let's go perennials!

Seasonal star

A true star of Texas horticulture, mealy cup sage (Salvia farinacea) is native to plains, prairies and woodland edges of south-central Texas. It blooms on and off all summer long and is on full display in spring, with trademark wands of bluish-purple flowers lending magic to many a WaterSaver garden. Fun fact: The botanical name is a Latin reference to flour for the "dusting" of white trichomes on the flowers and stems.

WATERING ADVICE

Water accordingly

Continue to water in new plantings as needed with hand-held hose.
